Dr. Blake Williams joined Williams Eye Institute in July 2020 specializing in glaucoma and refractive cataract surgeries as well as general ophthalmology. His pending Board Certification in Ophthalmology is expected September 2020.
Graduating from Stanford University with Honors with a BA in Human Biology, Dr. Williams received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Chicago School of Medicine where he researched the effects of anti-VEGF injections on intraocular pressure in macular degeneration and diabetic patients. He also analyzed and presented results on visual outcomes of the first 500 cases of femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgeries performed in 2013-14 at Williams Eye Institute.
His medical training continued during an internship at Presence Resurrection Hospital in Chicago before returning to the University of Chicago Medicine in 2017 for his Ophthalmology Residency where he was awarded the Greenwald Award for Excellence in Extraocular Surgery. During that time, he also authored multiple papers and abstracts focusing on retina and glaucoma research. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Williams is an avid runner, and enjoys mountaineering, camping and hiking.
