Dr. Megan Silas is an Oculoplastic Surgeon and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist. Megan is a Chicagoland native who grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign College of Engineering for her undergraduate education, where she studied Bioengineering and Chemistry, and graduated with highest honors.
Dr. Silas then went to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine on a merit-based scholarship. She stayed at the University of Chicago for her ophthalmology residency. Dr. Silas received multiple awards during her residency, including the Harvey Z. Klein award for exemplary patient care, the departmental Respect and Compassion award, and the Kiernan OKAP award.
After residency, Dr. Silas pursued further subspecialty training in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Facial, Oculoplastic, and Orbital Surgery. She loves how the eyelids and periocular area play a significant role in both maintaining quality vision and promoting a youthful appearance. Dr. Silas is passionate about the intersection of ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery. She is interested in healthcare advocacy and is a board member of the Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Silas believes that advocacy is a valuable tool to improve healthcare on a policy level.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Silas is passionate about giving back. During college, Dr. Silas spent 4-weeks volunteering at a free health clinic in the Ayacucho region of Peru. On a local level, Dr. Silas has worked with the Pritzker School of Medicine Ophthalmology Interest Group to organize eye screenings at free health fairs on the South Side of Chicago.
